Skopje, October 14 — A total of 50,227 tourists from Turkey visited Macedonia in August 2024, out of 119,572 foreign tourists overall, according to data released today by the State Statistical Office (SSO). During the same period, 113,004 domestic tourists were also registered.
Apart from Turkey, most foreign tourists in August came from Serbia (9,898 tourists), Romania (5,996 tourists), the Netherlands (4,997 tourists) and Poland (4,667 tourists).
The total number of overnight stays in August was 911,478, of which 74.3% were by domestic tourists, and 25.7% by foreign tourists.
In the period from January to August, the number of tourists increased by 8.3% compared to the same period last year. The number of domestic tourists fell by 0.9%, while the number of foreign tourists increased by 14.4%.
In August, most tourists—150,861—visited lake destinations, followed by Skopje, which attracted 48,151 tourists.
