Macedonia remains a partly free country, according to the latest report of the organization Freedom House.
In the latest report "Freedom of the World 2023", Macedonia has a score of 68 out of a maximum of 100 points, which is an improvement of only one point compared to last year.
According to the organization that conducts research and advocacy on democracy, political freedom, and human rights, Macedonia scored 29 out of 40 points in political rights, as well as 39 out of 60 points in civil liberties.

In the Western Balkans region, only Croatia with 84 out of 100 points has a better result than Macedonia. The other countries - Kosovo and Serbia have 60 points each, Albania and Montenegro - 67 points, and Bosnia and Herzegovina have the worst result with 52 points.
The freest countries this year with 100 maximum points are Sweden, Finland and Norway, while at the bottom of the list are Tibet, South Sudan and Syria with 1 point each.
The report "Freedom in the World" marks 50 years of its existence.
