
Skopje, February 15 — Macedonia registered 1,260,425 tourists in 2024, an increase of 91,695 (7.85%) compared to the previous year, according to data from the State Statistical Office (SSO).
Tourism activity peaked in August, with 232,576 visitors, making it the busiest month. In contrast, February recorded the lowest numbers, with 44,224 tourists.
Of the total, 830,179 were foreign visitors, while 430,246 were domestic tourists.
In 2024, Macedonia's tourism sector welcomed the highest number of foreign visitors from Turkey (284,406), followed by Serbia (72,338) and Greece (39,240).
Skopje was the top destination for foreign tourists, followed by lake resorts and other locations, while mountain areas also saw interest. However, spa destinations attracted the fewest visitors.
Domestic tourists primarily visited lake destinations, followed by mountain areas, Skopje, and other locations, with spa destinations again ranking the lowest in visits.
